So Mr Helloyanis recently rewrote the code of Live stream downloader extension from the stratch to add a new design, new features and options....:
https://github.com/helloyanis/media-dow ... -unleashed
but his new version is only compatible with firefox, when I asked him to add chrome support, here is his answer:
"I don't think it will be possible with the way I implement it.
Firefox allows you to use the webRequest API, so the add-on can read the requests, the server response and dynamically replay them when downloading media.
Chrome has deprecated this in favor for the declarativeNetRequest, which allows you to declare rules in your application. So it would mean I would have to specify rules manually for every streaming service in existence to get the headers used with the request which is impossible. And even if I had a team of thousands of people doing this, you can't even modify the request headers with declarativeNetRequest.
https://developer.chrome.com/docs/exten ... dification
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... equest_api
I do use manifest v3! However, Firefox has an implementation which does not deprecate the webRequest API, allowing ad-blockers and many other extensions to retain full functionality. The declarativeNetRequest API is good for privacy when making a browser extension work for a few sites, but it severely limits its ability to work on a large scale."
So I discover with horror that the DeclarativeNetRequest manifest v3 is an absolute disaster that not only destroys ad blockers but also destroys the ability to easily detect videos from thousands of sites and makes video downloader extensions much weaker, according to Mr. Helloyanis. I also discover that a manifest v3 extension can use manifest v2, essential for easily detecting videos out of the box from thousands of sites.
so we hope please our beloved Catsxp browser will contine to keep vital capital manifest v2 for video downloading, essential for video downloader extensions, and will continue to be supported in our beloved Catsxp for Windows 7/10/11 and i think this feat will make Catsxp even more unique int he world and even more powerful , thanks

user Catsxp manifest v2 is vital for me and many others, because even if Firefox keeps the v2 manfest, Firefox refuses to display temporary HLS video while downloading while Supermium displays temporary video while downloading. I need this to play temporary video with PotPlayer while downloading because my Wi-Fi is weak, my CPU is weak...
Moreover, Firefox refuses to provide the essential API for extension managers. I need an extension manager to easily enable/disable heavy video downloaders..... Firefox is useless for me even if Firefox has v2 manfest....
However, I can install extension managers in Catsxp, like:
https://github.com/hankxdev/one-click-e ... ns-manager
https://momane.com/
https://github.com/fregante/one-click-e ... ns-manager
https://github.com/rNeomy/addon-manager

SimpleExtManager

Extension Manager with Profiles

So Sadly Chromium browsers that continue to support manifest v2 are almost impossible to find nowadays:
there is of course our awesome Catsxp browser,
and
the press reports that Microsoft Edge browser (beta version ?) recently has disabled Manifest v2 extensions.....
I also recently discovered that there is a special version specifically compatible with Windows 10/11 of Supermium browser, which affirms that it will continue to support Manifest v2 even after July 2025 and the end of Chrome Enterprise.....
Brave is not very assertive about the possibility of keeping manifest v2 for a long time, brave says they will keep manfest v2 as much as possible.....
so our hope is in Catsxp team, thank you
