Mr Nialoada, following my request added and compiled for me a version N_m3u8DL-RE for my windows 7 os 32 bits, after failures, I finally understood a few days ago how to use Cat catch extension and N_m3u8DL-RE, i.e. you have to put in the same folder urlprotocol, ffmpeg, mp4decrypt, N_m3u8DL-RE and activate the option N_m3u8DL-RE in Cat catch settings and invoke protocol, I managed to download hls video but the problem, the download folder of N_m3u8DL-RE contains many small fragmented video slices .ts impossible to playback with potlayer i.e. there is not a unified temporary video file and you have to wait for the end of the download so that N_m3u8DL-RE can unify and gather and merge the small fragments video slices.....

and often my connection becomes very slow when my mother and my sisters connect to the wifi, in addition my sister uses her TV with the HDMI so weak connection and download can last a long time for an SD video .....

on the other hand, use the m3u8 parser of cat catch extension and use live stream downloader extension, the temporary hls video is displayed in a unified way in the download folder and I can playback temporary video while downloading using chrome hence the need to use the extensions with the downloader of the web browser hence my request that Catsxp re-displays the temporary video in the download folder in order to playback temporary video while downloading ....

all the time I used Catsxp, because excellent fast browser it has a recent kernel and the extension developers recommend to use the latest recent kernel, the temporary HLS video was displayed by Catsxp, then suddenly, when updating to chromium kernel 131, Catsxp no longer displays the temporary video in the download folder download......

I currently use chrome 130 to download, view and playback temporary video while downloading and my biggest fear chrome 131 or chrome 132 will erase this possibility maybe???

the alternative solution was to use preview feature of Cat-catch and Open in vlc extension, i.e. I don't need to download or wait for the download to end and these extensions send the detected m3u8 links to potplayer or vlc, but we have to add urlporotocol in the path of potplayer and vlc:

unfortunately the new chromium 131 kernel breaks the compatibility of the call protocol with potplayer and vlc !

I talk to Mr Xifangczy who advises me to contact potplayer to solve this bug.....and Mr Andy the developer of open in vlc advises me to contact vlc .....

in short I contact potplayer developer who tells me after days that he fixed the problem.... and recently Mr Xifangczy invents a new protocol called: "potplayerfix" which fixes some preview bugs, and I can now playback streaming hls video with potplayer using Catsxp !!

but the problem remains the same: potplayer is excellent and I activate hardware acceleration and I have a smooth playback of local videos, but my mother and my sisters connect to wifi, and my sister uses HDMI, and preview streaming video with potplayer lag jerks sometimes because of my weak internet connection....

I contacted vlc who tells me the problem comes from the extensions, but the developer of open in vlc tells me that the bug is caused by vlc and finally, vlc seems to be convinced after my explanations that indeed, the preview bug videos is caused by vlc and not by open in vlc extension , sadly vlc has not yet fixed the preview problem .....

so i was able to convince the developer of Open in vlc extension to add support for potplayer and he added recently a new commit of initial support of potplayer !

but the lag jerk problem persists sometimes when I preview with potplayer when the wifi becomes weak.....

the only solution is to download, I watch anime with 700 episodes, if I have to wait for the download to finish, it will take a long time, I prefer to watch video while it is downloaded, obviously I activate the 2 resume video options of potplayer, in the "association" section, I add the formats "crdownload crswap 0 part" in the open a file option and I obviously have to re-playback temporary video from time to time to follow the progress of the video download, but it is easy and quick to do.....

i think the playback video whiled downloading feature can save us a lot of money even for those who have a powerful modern laptops, because usually people subscribe to expensive fiber optic internet packages precisely to be able to playback videos smoothly without lag jerkiness, and with this trick, me with my weak ADSL internet connection, I can playback smoothly 1080p videos without any lag jerk, in condition that our beloved Catsxp manages to restore the possibility and ability to display temporary hls video in the download folder while downloading because Cat-catch, Live stream downloader and N_m3u8DL-RE can download videos from thousands of sites, thanks !

I am waiting for the future version of chrome 131 or 132 for Windows 7 os to make tests, if I can still see and playback temporary video, does that logically mean the problem is not caused by video downloader extensions?

if chrome 131 or 132 no longer displays temporary video, then I think probably this problem is caused by extensions? or browsers ?

this is complex problematic lol,

chrome is supposed to use the same chromium base as Catsxp, yandex, supermium, I was surprised by this difference to download the temporary video, it's a mystery, chrome seems to differ from the internal functioning of chromium.....

of course, the first thing i did when i installed this raw chromium is to install Cat catch extension and i click on "parser" in the small pop-up window and , and the dream comes true !!!

the temporary hls video is displayed using this chromium browser 134 and i can playback temporary video while downloading !!!!!

I don't know if it had an effect, but I preferred to install cat catch extension in raw crx format outside the chrome store to avoid possible limitation of the chrome store to the extension:

and I activated developer mode of chromium and I installed cat catch and the nightmare is finally over, I'm going to cry with joy, finally I can see and playback temporary hls video while downloading, for example from this site:

the developer of this 32-bit chromium for windows 7 os says that his browser can become unstable, I just installed this chromium browser and I don't find instability for the moment, but we prefer to use our beloved Catsxp browser for more peace of mind and for more stability so I talk about all this to show that, apparently, it is technically possible to display temporary hls video and playback video while downloading using raw chromium!

this opens the door of hope that this problem can be solved in Catsxp !

Disaster catastrophe, the m3u8 parser does not work anymore but I found the solution !

so, i use chromium 134, with the new version of Cat catch, i try to download hls video :

i click on the "parser" button of the small pop-up window, then as usual i click on the "merge and download" button, normally the unified temporary hls video is displayed in the download folder but nothing is displayed in the download folder, i wait for all the slices to finish downloading then i press the download button of the m3u8 parser and there no download is displayed and the video is not downloaded despite all the slices downloaded!

i tried clicking on different buttons, nothing works until i regain my composure, i click on parser, then i click on "send to ffmpeg online", and there the temporary video is displayed in the download folder and the download of the whole vieo succeeds .....

i went from anxiety to relief, but i have to do more tests because i remember in the past that the "send to ffmpeg online" button caused a weird download of the temporary video i.e. video passages were repeated in a loop......

UPDATE:

so, because parser of cat catch doesn't work in chromium 134, I told Mr E3kskoy7wqk the developer of Chromium-for-windows-7 that chromium kernel 132 may be more stable and can fix some problem.... .and Mr E3kskoy7wqk compiled new chromium 132 for windows 7 that fixes this capital problem and m3u8 parser of cat catch works again again without bug and i can now with chromium 132 display and playback temporary hls video while downloading !! :

UPDATE :

Great news !!!!! i contacted the Yandex browser support team about this problem, and the response from Yandex support fixed the problem of not displaying temporary hls video!!

to fix this problem, i was planning to delete my user profile but there is no option to do that in Catsxp, so i decide to click on the "restore defaults setting" of Catsxp browser but it does not work in my windows 7 os 32 bits! the restore defaults button does nothing in Catsxp browser, so please we hope Catsxp will solve this problem of restore default settings in order to check if resetting the values ​​of Catsxp will allow to display temporary video, thank you!


should i open a new issue to report the bug that the option: "restore defaults" does not work ?

The situation may have been caused by the current browser profile or installed extensions. In order to check this you need to create a new profile and try to repeat this behavior in it.

Please click the navigation icon (≡) → Settings → Add user. A new browser window will open.

Check if the issue persists with the new profile.

Do not delete the old profile when creating a new one, as it contains all your data, such as bookmarks, passwords, etc.

Please inform me about the results."

I finally managed to find the "manage catsxp profiles" button and I deleted my profile and I reinstalled cat catch extension and I tested with a hls streaming video and the nightmare is finally over !! I can see the temporary hls video and playback video while downloading! thanks!

but the little problem, I lost all my bookmarks and passwords and extensions in Catsxp, on supermium browser which also had the same problem about temporary video not displayed, I just clicked on the "restore defaults" button and the temporary video problem was fixed and I kept on supermium browser all my bookmarks, extensions, passwords despite the default reset and we hope please, for more simplicity and to save our data, we hope please Catsxp team will fix the bug of the "reset defaults" button which does not work to avoid delete our profile, thank you!

Regularly backup bookmarks and passwords, unexpected incidents always occur
