How long can you keep supporting MV2?
I have switched from Ublock Origin to Ublock Origin Lite. It's disappointing since I can't add my own custom filters.
Re: How long can you keep supporting MV2?
Why not consider built-in ad filtering?
The usage method is the same, just add a rule pack

Re: How long can you keep supporting MV2?
I have tried both the UBO and Catsxp build-in filters, even with adding other well known filter lists, imported from UBO.
The result is not the same - UBO is much better.
And, in addition, UBO allows users to add custom filter rules by clicking on webpage elements, which is great.
Regarding the original question, the creator of Catsxp promised in my threat, that he will keep the MV2 support in Catsxp browser even after Chromium 126. viewtopic.php?p=5777&hilit=mv2#p5777
Well, I hope he keeps his word.

Re: How long can you keep supporting MV2?
Brave, like Ublock Origin, includes the filter list collection, so you only have to choose and activate which filter lists you need. This is not the case with Catsxp! The internet outside of China is very different. You can't expect EasyList + EasyPrivacy + China specific filter list to work. You will need more than that. Forcing me to research which filter lists are needed is nonsense. I don't have the time and energy to do so.catsxp 写了: 2024年 5月 10日 08:27 Why not consider built-in ad filtering?

Honestly, EasyList + Easy Privacy is suitable for blocking most online ads and trackers. It's not perfect, of course, but it would be a lie to say that this configuration is a complete non-starter.s6nonqxt9y886fdp 写了: 2024年 5月 11日 00:46Brave, like Ublock Origin, includes the filter list collection, so you only have to choose and activate which filter lists you need. By the way, you can test your adblocker here : https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock

Re: How long can you keep supporting MV2?
I need RUAdlist. Try browsing mail.ru without RUAdlist, and you will see. RuAdList alone is enough of a showstopper. Brave's adblocker is based on UbO filter syntax. To have it work effectively, you have to add the UbO version, not the normal Adblock Plus version. Brave's adblocker doesn't support a filter list that includes other filter lists. So you ended up having to add multiple filter lists yourself. You have to actually read the RUAdlist filter list to know the exact list of filter lists that need to be added, and you will have to add each of them manually (as I recall, there are more than 20 of them). Imagine you have multiple Catsxp profiles, and you will have to repeat that with each profile.Mr_Electro84 写了: 2024年 5月 12日 17:06Honestly, EasyList + Easy Privacy is suitable for blocking most online ads and trackers. Not to mention that Fanboy Annoyance is now split into multiple smaller lists under the umbrella of EasyList. You will have to know the names of these smaller filter lists. You ended up having to read uAssets and Brave's adblocker resources to know. This is tiring and very time-consuming. Talk is easy, my friend.

See this: https://catsxp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=339
It's not updated, and filter lists have changed. I used to use Catsxp Shield and I know how to use it.

I know that the current system won't suit all users, who either have specific needs or want to go even further. As far as I'm concerned, this system suits me and is sufficient for the majority of users wishing to have basic advertising and privacy protection (even for the "western" web). But to say that EasyList and EasyPrivacy are totally ineffective is incorrect.s6nonqxt9y886fdp 写了: 2024年 5月 12日 18:12 I need RUAdlist. Try browsing mail.ru without RUAdlist, and you will see. Re: How long can you keep supporting MV2?
It works for you doesn't mean it works for me. I have seen a bunch of Wayland fanboys on Phoronix with exactly the same behavior. I ignored them so I will ignore you. Btw, I have never said I'm from a western country. I read Russian news because I have a mail.ru email address. I can't remember why I registered this account. Many years ago, I tried to search for alternative solutions to GMail. Maybe this is the reason. As I need to go to mail.ru to sign in to my email account, why don't I read the news, too? The site is very similar to Yahoo and I have a Yahoo mail box, too.Mr_Electro84 写了: 2024年 5月 12日 21:20I know that the current system won't suit all users, who either have specific needs or want to go even further.
