I noticed the empty space on my system drive disappearing and discovered a folder that isn't cleared when I clear the cache.
USER\AppData\Local\CatsxpSoftware\Catsxp-Browser\User Data\component_crx_cache
deleting all files from this directory does not lead to any fatal consequences
There's no similar folder in Google Chrome. The folder's size
USER\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
isn't growing uncontrollably. I add folder component_crx_cache to CCleaner.
Please, add the folder to Disk Cleanup in browser, is it possible.
P.S. Most likely, the folder size increased dramatically after experimenting with subtitles.
The component_crx_cache folder in Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Chrome) stores cached extension and component files, often causing large file size issues, failed profile syncs, and HTTP 413 errors in virtualized environments. It is safe to delete, though it will likely regenerate. Excluding %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\component_crx_cache from syncing resolves these issues.
I also encountered the following problem on my WIndows 7 operating system: the CatsXP browser often launches only on the third or fourth attempt. When launched, two processes appear in the task manager: one consumes about 1.5 MB of memory, the second about 4 MB, and nothing happens. The next attempt adds two more processes, and the next one... until the browser launches. With successful launches, the proccess memory consumed by the 4 MB begins to increase to tens of megabytes memories, additional CatsXP processes appear, and the browser window opens. Apparently, this is due to some kind of library loading conflict. When the browser window is closed, all processes in the task manager end. The same problem occurs with the Supermium browser; other Chrome-like browsers launch without problems. A user survey on a local forum showed that no one has encountered this problem. Perhaps this is due to some kind of conflict or missing library.
